Cam unable to end year with a win

Camberley travelled to lowly Tottonians looking to complete a league double and reverse a series of defeats, but, despite their best efforts, Camberley were unable to achieve either.

Tottonians scored the opening try inside the first couple of minutes, capitalising on handling errors made by Camberley. Winger Dan Lewis soon got Camberley on the board
benefiting from some excellent play by the backs, who, from turnover ball, moved the ball quickly through several sets of hands to release Lewis out wide to score.

Camberley took the lead from a successful Cruickshank penalty midway through the half, and for periods despite the ebb and flow of the game Camberley always looked
the more likely to score, Tottonians made headway only from Camberley errors.

The scores were levelled when Camberley winger Danny Ligiari was sin-binned and the home side slotted the penalty to even the scores at 8-8.

Camberley started the second half in bullish mood, full back Alex O’Meara scored out wide to give the lead back to Camberley, Cruickshank’s excellent kick from the
touchline opened up a useful 7 point lead.

There then followed a 5 minute period of madness, Tottonians scoring twice in quick succession, giving the home side a 20-15 lead. O’Meara drew Camberley level once more
again scoring out wide, this time Cruickshank was unsuccessful with the kick.

With the game finely poised both sides pushed to gain the winning score, regrettably it was the home side who scored their fourth and bonus point winning try inside the last
ten minutes to seal the win.

Camberley resume league action on January 7th against league leaders Gosport & Fareham
at Watchetts.
